Where to put the wooden sculptures?

Crete wood is a great source of inspiration for artist Gerhard Stelzhammer. But where to put the wooden sculptures he has created? They need protection from the sun and rain.

So, the idea of creating a space for the wooden sculptures had been tossed around for some time. This space was to be airy, integrated into the old olive grove and also serve as a greenhouse. It also had to be sustainable and, of course, no floor would have to be sealed forever. A few months earlier, Gerhard saw old beams that once served as a pergola for the beach taverna on Gialiskari Beach. The pergola had to make way for umbrellas and so the beams were moved to the sculpture garden in Anidri. They were placed on point foundations and connected with new timbers. And during the construction phase, old windows that people had removed and that were no longer needed, trickled in from everywhere.
