Winter is actually a time for leisure and creativity. It rained and stormed so much this winter that there was plenty of time for leisure, but little to turn it into creative processes. But now spring has arrived and creativity can unfold…
Gerhard has started some new sculptures. He has created a “Mandl” made of almond wood, carved from an almond tree from the neighbour’s garden. He is also working on two smaller marble sculptures, two steles and a wooden head. Much of this will be shown at the next Paleochora Art Week.
But there’s also a lot going on in the sculpture garden. During “Hercules Week”, Gerhard first tipped over a large olive tree trunk in order to straighten it. This was the easier exercise. However, setting up this wooden trunk, which weighs several tonnes, was only possible with technical know-how and skill, as can be seen in the photos.
The sculpture “The Angel of Hope” also fell over in a strong storm and had to be re-sited. The crane lorry was supposed to come. But why wait when there is another way?
